Young fans in India await Mr Bean’s entry

Mr Bean, the funny man of television will soon hit Indian markets. Merchandise related to his film and television show will be available in India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. The Toonz Licensing, Mr Bean’s licensing agent for the four countries has entered into an agreement with Tiger Aspect Productions to bring Rowan Atkinson’s character alive.
P.Nikhila a student of Class 7 at Kalpa Coeducational School feels that if her parents allow her, she would definitely buy Mr Bean’s toys. “I love Mr Bean because he is very silly and that makes him very funny,” she says. Her younger brother Nagasundar, who is studying in 1st Class wants Mr Bean’s dress, car and teddy bear too.
The price of the merchandise has not yet been made public and stores say that they will be a big hit as a people of all ages are crazy about Mr Bean. Mr.Ajay kumar,Assistant store Manager, Odessey India Ltd , feels that based on the demand for Mr Bean’s DVD’s and VCDs when his merchandise reaches India people will definitely buy it.There are lot of children and teenagers who keep asking for his movies and iam sure they will come back to buy his toys.
However,many youngsters who are crazy about him feel that they would not go that extra mile to buy his products.They dismiss him as a cute,children character,but not worth it for a collector’s item.says shantanu Mittal, an engineering student, “I’m a big fan of Mr Bean and I really love his shows .However ,that will not make me buy his merchandise as there won’t be anything great about it.”
Some feel that their friends would laugh at them if they go to the stores to buy Mr Bean merchandise. Satish an engineering Student loves Mr Bean and his teddy says, “I won’t buy Mr Bean Merchandise as a Compulsion. I can’t even gift it to my girlfriend as she might think I’m retard.”
